On the Other Foot

With summer comes bare feet.  Unforunately, one weekend I spent a little too much time in my bare feet.  After spending an afternoon walking on hot pavement around Kelowna, my feet looked like this...

Oh, and this is after I washed them twice.

By the time I got home, I could hardly stand on my feet.  Ugh, just looking at that blister makes me cringe thinking about it.  They ached even while I was laying down.  I knew I had to do something to soothe my feet.  I looked through EcoBeauty and 1001 Natural Remedies for foot soaks, but I didn't have all of the ingredients for any of them.  There was no way I was leaving the house again, so I made my own up.

Grace's Miraculous Foot Soak

3 litres hot water
3 Sleepytime tea bags
5 drops lavender essential oil

Pour about 2 L boiling water from kettle.

Add 3 tea bags and allow to steep for 10 minutes.  Add remaining water (1 L) from tap until it is a comfortable temperature.

Pour about 5 drops of lavender essential oil.

Enjoy!

The Sleepytime tea just happened to be all I had in the house.  It contains chamomile, spearmint, lemongrass, tilia flowers, blackberry leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn berries, and rosebuds.  I knew that chamomile contains tannic acid which can cure and prevent foot odor.  I figured the other stuff could only help not hinder in any other ways (plus the smell was so relaxing).  I added the lavender essential oil because it fights bacteria. This soak left my feet feeling clean and refreshed!
