My hair is horribly dry and damaged. I have been growing my hair out for what feels like an eternity, but it seems to just not be healthy when it is longer. Recently I've had real problems with it tangling up in actual knots, and I hate the way it feels. When a friend and I came across a Hot Oil Treatment we thought that just might be the solution.
I've moved to a new website! Head on over to Heartful Habits for the Hot Oil Hair Treatment recipe. Thanks!
I might need to try this with the girls! They both have that kind of hair too.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I always have fly aways and I hate them...might have to try this. Where do you get almond oil?
ReplyDeleteTry Sprouts, they always carrie different tipes of oils.
DeleteI actually just did this today with olive oil instead of almond oil. I had the same "this can't be right" feeling putting honey in my hair, but I agree! It's softer than normal and I was even able to put my hair in the fishtail braid I've been attempting for weeks without the usual horrible frizzy results. I'm going to look for almond oil now because I think it'll smell better than olive oil.
ReplyDeletei tried this and had very good results. My hair has been super soft all week! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTry coconut oil. It is really good for your skin and hair. I am trying to grow my hair out and it makes my hair and scalp feel amazing. It really helps with dandruff as it seems to calm your scalp. I got a jar of extra virgin coconut oil at my local health food store. It is somewhat solid so you put a tablespoon in your hands and rub them together to warm it up into a liquid state. Apply enough to your hair to coat it and leave it in for about and hour and then wash it out (with a mild shampoo) and follow with conditioner. My hair feels so much stronger and looks much shinier.
ReplyDeleteApparently it is also a really good oil to cook with. I haven't tried that yet.
Good Luck!
I found a pin on pinterest that had a tutorial to make this using olive oil and it promoted super shiny hair. I have to say it delivered! I have been asked several times if I recently colored my hair because it looks so shiny and healthy! I've used coconut oil, but the honey olive oil works better for me. I DO love coconut oil on my face (while it is still wet from shower)my face feels like baby skin after I use it! Love your tips!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna give this a try! There isn't a piece of me that isn't dry during the winter.
ReplyDeleteOk, I tried this tonight using coconut oil; sat under a heating cap about 30 minutes. I will see what happens after everything is all finished.
ReplyDeleteYou should try using mayonaisse too. It works wonders!
ReplyDeletedoes your hair have to be DRY with you apply??
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it any other way, but it does specifically say to apply to dry hair in the book.
DeleteThis worked great on my hair! I had some leftover oil/honey mix, so I added sugar and used it as a body scrub. My skin felt great afterward! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteTry just plain Coconut oil. If your hair is fine use just a little at a time it is so nourishing for your hair an good if you have dandruff I am the USA importer for Mailelani Samoa we have Cold Presssed Organic Coconut & Tamanu (fetau) oil body care products from the Treasurd Island Samoa

Hi, I love your blog! I was wondering, when you do this do you condition after as well? Because I just shampooed since that's all you mentioned, but I was sad when my hair still felt a little crispy/dry afterward and I wondered if it's because I neglected the conditioner? Although, it still feels better than usual so I'm not complaining! I just had this vision of perfect silky smoothness....
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I'm glad you tried this out with at least some success. Hm, that is interesting that it felt crispy/dry after the shampoo. I don't use conditioner in my hair ever, so no, I didn't condition it after this treatment either. I'm curious if your result is related to the shampoo you use. I use a natural, nourishing shampoo to begin with. I hope that helped at all.
