Easy Toilet Bowl Cleaner

I've previously spoken about what a danger household cleaning products are to our health and the environment.  You can check out this post for more information if you're interested.  Since learning all of this, I have been switching over my cleaning products.  When I ran out of toilet bowl cleaner, I looked around on the internet for a natural alternative.

I've moved to a new website! Head on over to Heartful Habits for the borax toilet bowl cleaner post. Thanks!

  1. So simple, just replace one product for another! Anyone should be able to do that! I am stocked up on cleaner, but i'll have to keep this in mind when we run out!

  2. I've used the borax for the bowl and my tub, but it was very gritty - good for a scrub, but not easy to use on the rim or outer edges of either. What would you recommend for the toilet surfaces?

    1. I use and love Norwex antibacterial microfibre cloths. They have silver sewn into them, so there is no soap necessary, just the cloth and water!

  4. I have well water, so my toilets can get that weird pinkish ring stain fairly quickly no matter how often I scrub the bowl. What I've found to be the most wonderful cleaning tool/product for those stains is a pumice stone. When using, you have to keep it very wet so it won't scratch, but it's absolutely amazing! Makes the bowls look brand new. First time I used one I had to drag the husband into the bathroom to show off the results! :D

  6. I think using a sheet rock sand paper sheet is gentler on the porcelain than the pumice stone. Next time you are at a home improvement store, look for one. I cut mine in half and use it until it's used up. I also have a white sink I use it on for the hard water. I hope to never have a white sink again.
